The Bellini was invented by Giuseppe Cipriani, founder of Harry’s bar in Venice, Italy. He named the drink Bellini because of its unique pink colour which reminded him of the toga on a saint painted by venetian artist Giovanni Bellini. The drink was so popular that it spread beyond Europe and entered the New York market where it exploded and was stocked at all the city’s hottest spots. The Peach Bellini cocktail is one of many concoctions that is selected by the International Bartenders Association (IBA) and is created in the annual world cocktail competition (WCC) in bartending.  Bellini Cipriani have the exclusive rights and pleasure to provide the authentic drink in Australia. Pasquale Napoletano, managing director of Australian importer, Italy in a glass says “The only difference is that the Bellini is bottled, and at Harry’s Bar it’s made to order.”
